IBC Shows or Sales Specials RSS PDF print email

The new IBCbettas.org makes it easy for all members who have their own Betta website to help promote the IBC organization by embedding our RSS feeds in their sites. For those with dynamic sites, it may be as easy as copying/pasting the feed URL(s). For static sites however, there is generally no out-of-the-box solution. It normally means taking the source XML, writing (or finding) some script that turns the feed into HTML, and then embed it in your site.

rsslite logoWe like to simplefy this process for you by taking advantage of the smart folks at the University of Bath who wrote an application called RSSLite that let's you place "an RSS channel onto your own website using a single line of JavaScript."

Simply copy and paste the following code to include the next four upcoming shows in your site:

<!-- Start Code -->
<script src="http://rssxpress.ukoln.ac.uk/lite/viewer/?rss=http%3A%2F%2Fibcbettas.org%2Fpages%2Fshows%2Feventlist.feed%3Ftype%3Drss"></script> <noscript> <a href="http://rssxpress.ukoln.ac.uk/lite/viewer/?rss=http%3A%2F%2Fibcbettas.org%2Fpages%2Fshows%2Feventlist.feed%3Ftype%3Drss">View </a> </noscript>
<!-- End Code -->

Shows feed URL (for dynamic use):

http://ibcbettas.org/pages/shows/eventlist.feed?type=rss

Or include the latest specials from IBC Sales:

<!-- Start Code -->
<script src="http://rssxpress.ukoln.ac.uk/lite/viewer/?rss=http%3A%2F%2Fibcbettas.org%2Feshop%2Frss_specials.php"></script> <noscript> <a href="http://rssxpress.ukoln.ac.uk/lite/viewer/?rss=http%3A%2F%2Fibcbettas.org%2Feshop%2Frss_specials.php">View </a> </noscript>
<!-- End Code -->

Specials feed URL (for dynamic use):

http://ibcbettas.org/eshop/rss_specials.php

 You can also style your new channels via CSS. RSSExpress uses the following classes:

  • rssxpresschannel - the RSS channel is wrapped in a single <div> with this class. Changes to this will effect all of the channel
  • rssxpresstable - the RSS channel is formatted (rightly or wrongly :-) ) using a table of this class. Changes here could effect text alignment, etc.
  • rssxpresschtitle - the RSS channel title
  • rssxpresschdesc - the RSS channel description
  • rssxpressittitle - each of the item titles have this class. Note that because each of these are links, there are limitations to their control. If you wanted a specific colour for example you would need to define an A:link colour that would effect all the links on the page, not just the RSS channel
  • rssxpressitdesc - the RSS item description
  • rssxpressdivider - the items from the channel are separated from the main description at the top, and other things at the end, but a single pixel, single column, row in the RSS channel layout table. To change the colour of this alter the background colour attribute in the stylesheet

A demo stylesheet is available at: http://rssxpress.ukoln.ac.uk/lite/include/includedemo.css

J-Board News

It is the opinion of the Judging Board that the use of descriptive names that do not relate any beneficial genetic information regarding a specific Betta is detrimental to the hobby and might be construed as misleading.
