The IBC would like to get a pair of betta into new members hands as soon as possible, free of charge so a new member can try breeding betta. Right now it is available only in the United States.

As we grow in other countries we hope to establish it everywhere. It is a volunteer program and only works as long as volunteers and their fish are available. The IBC would really like to keep this program working, so here are the guidelines.

At no time does the IBC guarantee any members free betta. We only do this when we have breeders willing to donate the fish and the time to ship them to new members. A new member can email the Betta Pals Chair to request a pair of fish. The chair will contact a volunteer breeder who will contact the new member as to the availability of fish, shipping fees and the shipping schedule. The breeder, upon receipt of payment, will ship the fish.

A few basic rules:

  1. You may not apply for 30 days after receiving membership card(s).
  2. You cannot pick the color or type of fish.
  3. Don't bug the breeder. Work with them on their schedule, after all they are the ones donating the fish and their time.
  4. You must pay the volunteer breeder before they will ship the fish.

If you feel you can abide by these guidelines, have been a member for at least 30 days and would like to apply, please login to contact the Betta Pals chair.

Remember, this is a volunteer program to help new breeders get some stock and run by the breeders themselves and sometimes stock may not be available. Just joining the IBC does not guarantee you will receive fish. Weather is also a factor and in winter months shipments will be held until spring.

If you are an active breeder and would like to donate extra stock, login to contact the Betta Pals chair. Your help is critical to the success of this program. Thank you.
