I am getting back into breeding and keeping betta after a decade long absence. I haven't tried breeding for show or actually showing but I think I would like to give it a shot. Getting spawns ready for possible entry into the spring shows.
I'm a bit of a purist - I like to work on nice clean traditional colors and forms. My version of "mad scientist" lines are bi-colors and tri-colors - as patterned fish, not multi. I've worked with plakats and halfmoons. I've not raised crowntails, but I'm getting a couple from a friend to start playing with.
I have a fair understanding of betta genetic, but there are some new variations out now that I need to learn about the genetics (metallics and dragonscale).
